About Us

Welcome! Muslimahs on the RUN began in December 2013 by a group of Muslim women from North Carolina who began running (and walking) together as a way of growing spiritually as Muslim sisters, and healthfully as a form of physical exercise. No matter your size, body type, race, ethnicity, age or pace, Muslimahs on the Run is about developing strong sisterhood through physical activity. One of the lessons this group of sisters took away from this experience, is there is no truer sisterly connection than uniting on the pavement.

Mission
MOTR promotes physical fitness thru running other physical activities.

MOTR is organized to promote holistic health and wellness for families by sponsoring activities that lead to physical, mental, and spiritual well being. The organizations focus is on at-risk populations that are under-served and/or under-represented in traditional health & wellness community settings. (Muslims, minorities, special-needs and the disabled populations).

Vision

Our vision is to build "sisterhood on the pavement" through walking, running, or biking; making physical activity an accessible and supportive activity for Muslim women throughout the United States.

Values

Our values are rooted firmly in developing sisterhood through running and other healthy activity.   We want ALL types Muslim women to feel welcome and supported.  No matter what Islamic affiliations you may have; points of view, beliefs, understandings, and creed, MOTR is one sisterhood on the pavement.  Islam comes in may colors, cultures, and clothes; running comes in all ages, abilities, and paces.  MOTR encourages all Muslimahs to lace up those sneakers, hit the pavement with positive attitudes, and embrace each other with energetic spirits, so that we can be "our sister's keeper."
